people have lived in korea for 100,000 years, Japan occupied south korea in 1905 until it was freed by the united states and soviets who decided to stay because they did not think Korea was a strong country. United states and Soviets split Korea into two countrys south and north korea. The first president of South korea was Syngman Rhee. In 1950 the Korean war started it finished in 1953.
